Melissa has a personal yoga practice of 16 years, originally guided by Teachers within the lineages of BKS iyengar BEFORE ESTABLISHING A DEEP FOUNDATION IN THE ASHTANGA YOGA LINEAGE OF MYSORE, iNDIA WHICH IS THE PRACTICE THAT SHE CONTINUES TO DRAW FROM.

In 2019 MELISSA traveled to Mysore India tO FURTHER HER LEARNING OF YOGA ASana from sharathji and eastern philosophy from sanskrit scholar lakshmishji, deepening her connection to the southern indian methods of tirumalai krishnamacharya

melissa has been teaching yoga for 7 years and has a deep interest in the spiritual texts of the east as well as ancient temple iconography, conveying the idea that an image can tell a story. in 2021 she received a distinction from the australian national university of canberra as part of 400 hours of study in the language of classical sanskrit and translation of devanagari script from historical texts. This study has provided her with the ability to read lost wisdoms from their source and apply this in a modern setting.

melissa belives that whilst the study of yoga philosophy may serve as a useful guide, it is the tapas (discipline) towards our sadhana (Spiritual path) and our daily practices that ultimately inform our knowledge of yoga experientially.

‘For those who have an intense urge for spirit and wisdom it sits near them waiting’
